Enabling predictable assembly

چکیده
Demands for increased functionality, better quality, and faster time-to-market in software products continue to increase. Component-based development is the software industry's response to these demands. The industry has developed technologies such as EJB and CORBA to assemble components that are created in isolation. Component technologies available today allow designers to plug components together, but do little to allow the developer to reason about how well they will play together. Predictable Assembly focuses on issues related to assembling component-based systems that predictably meet their quality attribute requirements. This paper introduces prediction-enabled component technology (PECT) as a means of packaging predictable assembly as a deployable product. A PECT is the integration of a component technology with one or more analysis technologies. Analysis technologies support prediction of assembly properties and also identify required component properties and their

Towards Predictable Assembly of Certifiable Assets
With business drivers such as innovation and the constant influence of changing requirements, organizations seek ways to increase time-to-market capability, enhance overall productivity and maintain or improve product quality. At the same time these organizations strive to leverage legacy investments. Assets unbundled from these legacy systems, acquired through vendors or developed in-house for...
متن کاملDirected evolution: new parts and optimized function.
Constructing novel biological systems that function in a robust and predictable manner requires better methods for discovering new functional molecules and for optimizing their assembly in novel biological contexts. By enabling functional diversification and optimization in the absence of detailed mechanistic understanding, directed evolution is a powerful complement to 'rational' engineering a...
متن کاملDirected assembly of defined oligomeric photosynthetic reaction centres through adaptation with programmable extra-membrane coiled-coil interfaces
A challenge associated with the utilisation of bioenergetic proteins in new, synthetic energy transducing systems is achieving efficient and predictable self-assembly of individual components, both natural and man-made, into a functioning macromolecular system. Despite progress with water-soluble proteins, the challenge of programming self-assembly of integral membrane proteins into non-native ...
متن کاملFormal Definition of Metrics Upon the CORBA Component Model
Objective: Formalization of metrics definitions to assess CORBA component assemblies’ quality attributes. Method: Representation of a component assembly as an instantiation of the CORBA Component Model metamodel. The resulting meta-object diagram can then be traversed using Object Constraint Language clauses. These clauses are a formal and executable definition of the metrics that can be used t...
